From material to systems – Moelven on the next step in wood construction
EXHIBITOR | Moelven is one of the Nordic region’s leading players in wood-based building solutions, with a strong presence spanning from raw material to finished building systems. With a focus on industrial construction, sustainability and innovation, the group is driving development in both materials and methods. At Wood Products & Technology, we meet David Lindahl, District Manager at Moelven Limtre, who shares his perspective on what is shaping wood construction today, where demand is growing and how Moelven is working to meet future needs.
What is driving the development of wood construction right now?
– The development is driven by the fact that wood is increasingly seen as an attractive and sustainable building material, especially in larger construction projects where climate impact, flexibility and aesthetics are playing a growing role.
Where do you see the greatest demand going forward – and why?
– On the project side, we see the strongest demand in larger construction projects for both commercial real estate and public buildings. This includes structural solutions in glulam, entire buildings made from industrially produced timber modules, as well as visible wood products such as façades and interior elements.
From my perspective, working with glulam, we also see a steady demand for standardized glulam beams through the building materials trade, as well as LVL (Kerto) beams for single-family housing and glulam for prefabricated construction. Here, the combination of industrial precision and customer adaptation is crucial.
We also see growth in logistics buildings. Historically, these have largely been built in steel, but more and more are now being constructed in wood, often from a sustainability perspective.
What do you want to showcase or highlight at Wood Products & Technology?
– At Wood Products & Technology, we want to demonstrate the breadth of Moelven’s offering to the project market and the construction industry. Representatives from three companies within the group will be present – Moelven Limtre, Moelven Wood Projekt and Moelven Byggmodul – allowing us to show how glulam, timber façades and modular wood buildings can be used in modern construction.
This includes everything from load-bearing structures and complete buildings made from prefabricated timber modules to decorative wood elements for both façades and interiors.
The exhibition is an important meeting place to demonstrate how industrial wood construction works in practice and how we at Moelven can contribute. We often say that the future is built in wood, and we are proud to be part of that solution.
