Data, AI and real-time production – how CodeIT creates business value in the wood industry

What is the first step for a company that wants to become more data-driven?

– Start using the data you already have. Most companies generate large amounts of production data, but lack the systems to collect it, connect it and act on it. In practice, it comes down to three things. Your systems need to communicate with each other, your master data needs to be centralized, and you need real-time monitoring. With an OEE solution, you can see uptime, identify bottlenecks and work more proactively with maintenance. Many companies still rely too much on manual processes. In reality, it’s about starting to use the data that already exists.

Where do you see AI making a real difference in the wood industry today?

– Primarily in raw material optimization. AI-based vision systems can maximize yield from each log and reduce waste. Then there’s quality control and automation. AI and robotics take over repetitive and sometimes hazardous tasks, improving safety and freeing up time. We also see development in customer service, with better support and more automated documentation. The key is to see AI as a tool, not a goal. It should create real business value.
